We are proud to be able to offer a line of skin care products and bulk herbal products These products are all natural and cottage industry made. Ours is one of the few soaps on the market that uses infused oils in the soapmaking process, this means the gestation time for each product is about four months. Each soap has been hand crafted in small batches and thoroughly tested before being released for sale.(No animal testing, only very willing humans.)
The uniqueness of the infused oils and natural botanicals can be felt in everything that we do. The process starts with either fresh or dried herbs and lots of quality olive oil, our soap formula is over 40% infused olive oil. The herbs and oil are combined and allowed to naturally infuse over a period of six to eight weeks. This allows all the compounds in the herb to transfer to the oil. These oils are then used to create everything that we make.
If you have any requests please email us as it may already be 'in the works'.
These soaps are made by the cold process method in five pound batches. There are no artificial anything in these soaps. Our formula consists of over 40% of infused olive oil. This olive oil takes anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks to make. The dried herbs that we use are all the best possible quality that we can find. The scents are blends of essential oils and natural flavors not synthetic scents. We take great pride in producing a great product.
Because our soaps are handmade in small batches we are able to offer a custom soap service. (This also applies to our other products.) We have made baskets for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, business gifts and many more. If you would like something custom made, please contact us and we will start the process. Please be aware that this is a long process, especially if we do not regularly have your specified oils on hand. We generally would need a three month lead time.
Just a note in case you don't know the difference in salves, butters, lotions and balms. Our salves generally have a very heavy oil base with beeswax as a thickener. They go on more like a dry oil which means they hydrate without leaving your skin with a greasy feel. The butters that we make are very very thick with a shea butter base. The lotions are more like what is commonly available, ours may be a little thicker, but I may be biased. The balms are mostly lip type balms. With all these products a little goes a very long way. "A little dab will do ya", is almost an understatement.
Honestly folks, this is an idea that I wished I had come up with! But John and his family have done such a wonderful job that I just had to be a part of their site!
Yes, these courses are free! There are many sites on the net that will say "free" but then at the bottom of the page their will be a "nominal" fee. I understand, running a site and making e-books and courses is not easy or cheap. But don't tell me it's free, then try to charge.
The people at Learning Herbs are easy going and strait forward, the courses are easy to understand and mostly video so it's easy to grasp what they are talking about. They also have paid courses if you interested in expanding your herbal knowledge.
Learning Herbs also has a Medicine Making Kit that is wonderful for people starting out. I ordered this and it is well packaged, easy to do, easy to understand and comes with lots of extras!
I am sitting here trying to find a downfall to the Learning Herbs site, and I can't find one! Everything they do is just plain FUN!
